Is the Dana 30 Low Pinion and High Pinion using the same carrier?

yup. when i ordered mine from quadratec i mentioned that i only saw the one listed for the d30 - and nothing for a high-pinion 30. they told me that they were the same and sure enough it worked perfect for her hp30.

I was wondering from what I saw but wanted to be sure. Thanks. Now if I can just find the carrier. I found a lot of the 3.55's

why cant you just flip a LP? cant you take the axle tubes off the carrier and flip it and use it as a HP? i think im lost Neutral

Aside from the gears turning backwards, the difference between the LP and HP is s that the pinion gear meshes with the ring gear in a different (lower) location. That difference in mesh point makes the LP much more prone to housing flex then the HP.

You'll also have lubrication problems as the oil won't reach everywhere it needs to be to keep things running smooth and cool.
