I have done everything i can think of to stop my cherokee from the death wobble. The only thing I havent done yet is add a steering stabilizer kit to it. Its a 96 with a three in lift kit with 31x10.50 tires. Will adding a steering stabilizer help out any?

i'm not sure it'll eliminate the death wobble, but it may help mask it. usually they aren't the root of the problem, but a good stabilizer will help keep the after-effects to a minimum.

what sort of things have you done to try and fix the DW? worn control arms bushings, egged out tie rod ends, poor wheel balancing, and loose/damaged trackbar bushings are usually the culprits. i'd start with checking the torque on the trackbar and control arms, then try rotating tires to see if there is a change (rebalance if there is), and finally look into getting some eccentric-cam lower control arm mount bolts/washers to maybe reposition your front caster into specs. some axles have the brackets mounted in such a way that even the smallest caster changes produce problems.

good luck!
chris (thinks that most stabilizers are pretty much the same, but has had good luck with munroe)

If you buy a good quality SS you'll mask the DW.
Alot of people are going to tell you to fix the problem
correctly, but sometimes the funds aren't available.

Like the previous reply said, DW can be caused by many
things including but not limited to, Stabilizer, TRE's, Balancing,
Alignment, etc.

If I were you I would replace the steering stablizer, if it doesn't
completely solve it try rotating your tires, and if you can have
them rebalanced.

Oh, and check out your tracbar. The axle side bolt may be loose, or maybe the end on it is going bad.
