I havent been on here since like a year ago in high school
i searched all through haynes and chilton manuels trying to find a solution
and i hate to say it but i completly forgot about the internet.
how dumb of me

ne ways i have a 96 cherokee classic I6
my problems are
Headlights dont work
turn signals dont work
rear defrost doesnt work
the thing on your bright switch that holds your brights on doesnt hold
i can manually pull the switch back and the brights will work but as soon as i let go it goes back to nothing

i went and bought the $80 turn/brights/windshield wiper switch and installed it.
that did nothing
my hazards and park lights still work

any ideas?
im in desperate need of help
ive already been pulled over once for the headlights
i rigged up my fog lights on the front to go on with my park lights

please and thank you

If it has similar wiring to my '93 model, I would suspect the headlight switch. It has, if it is the same type as mine, an inbuilt circuit breaker that I think is supposed to be self-resetting. I suspect that this CB might have failed.

If it was my truck, I would take it to a shop specializing in auto electrical systems... that would get you the best help at the cheapest price... I would not tackle anything more than making sure all the fuzes and relays are good... after that, I'd call an expert! sounds like a big headache that I would let a shop deal with...

check all the fuses, but the multipurpose switch on the steering column will cause nearly all lights to fail when it goes bad. With electrical problems always check fuses. sometimes you can correctly diagnose the problem by moving the lever around with the light switch on and the brakes down and if they come on when the lever moves to a certain point it is bad.

In this type of situation you need a volt meter and need to start hunting around starting at the switch. As for the high beams, on mine when you pull the lever it's to flash them, you push it to lock them on. Oh, you have a 96, I think anything older than 97 had the pull type.
