My aftermarket Perma-cool "finger chopper" fan kicked the bucket after only 1-1/2 years. Luckily, my brother had an identical one he didn't want that I could replace it with, but I really would like to replace this with a Taurus fan (which I already have). It has way more cfm and is hopefully more reliable.

But when I read the GoJeep website, it makes it sound like this baby just slips right in with only minor trimming of the fan shroud. Maybe that's true on the Aussie RHD jeeps, but with my 1998 LHD, it's not even close. It seems to be too deep. From what I can tell I will have to cut a lot of shroud, and then I am not even sure it will slip in.

Has anyone on this forum had any experience putting a Taurus fan into a Left Hand Drive Cherokee? If so, how did you get it in?

A lot less cfm but clams it works
Good Easy Dual Electric Conversion Also Updated AC Fan, By Dino Savva

I eventually found a fan in a local auto parts store. It was a 14" high performance reversible electric fan that could be mounted in either pusher or puller mode and it cost a mere 50 bucks. It's rated at 1800cfm in puller mode. At a little over 3" thick it was slim enough to mount to my XJ with plenty of clearance from the engine.

I have already converted to dual electric fans... the perma-cool 16" fan I have pulls 2950 cfm. Even with that, I would prefer the dual-speed and higher cfm of the Taurus fan. The Taurus fan is also proven to be quite reliable, whereas with aftermarket fans, you never know, as I am finding out. I am just glad we had a spare.

The stock belt driven fan pulls close to 4000cfm, so I would be worried about my cooling with any less than the 2950 I have.

I also like the Taurus fan because, according to GoJeep, when you mount the shroud vertically, it allows a space under the radiator to mount a transmission cooler, which will make it possible to move it from in front of my radiator (which most likely makes it harder to cool the engine) to below it.
