I am glad that I found this and I hope that someone has some suggestions for me. I have been finishing a frame off restoration on an 83 CJ-7 that my father started and I've run into a problem. I want to remove the roll bar so that I can assess the rust damage to the tub but I'm having trouble removing some of the bolts. Most of these torx bolts have been striped and are "frozen" in place. I have tried using PB Blaster, heat, and banging them with a maul. I recently tried to drill out the bolts but I haven't been too sucessful. The drill bits I've used (cobalt & titanium) don't seem to penetrate the bolts. I am pretty stumped on this one so any suggestions would be much appreciated

I would grind or cut the heads off and then use a punch to knock out the rest of the bolts.

Welcome!

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to not have to resort to cutting the bolts off and tearing up the threads, but that my be my only option.

Years ago, when I used to work on old junk, I sometimes would use a chisel to cut the heads off of a stubborn bolt. However, depending on the hardness of these bolts, that might not work too good. And it sounds like they may be pretty hard.......

And welcome also!
