Bought a 2005 unlimited about 5 weeks ago. Had a very hard time getting it into reverse (manual trans.) from day one from dealer. only 26K for milage. Just thought I was rusty since it has been a while for a manual trans. Come to find out it has a problem with the reverse syncronizor??? An internal trans problem. Chrystler/Jeep is covering it since the milage is low, but cannot find the part. Do to the bankrupcy, all the parts makers are shut down and backordered until further notice. They have had my jeep over 2 weeks already. Any ideas on how to get a part???? Any ideas on what causes this? It has a 4" rough country lift and 33's. The dealer says it has nothing to do with the lift.

HERE IS AN UPDATE. THE JEEP IS STILL AT THE DEALER, ANTIOCH DODGE/JEEP IN ILLINOIS. IT WAS DROPPED OFF ON MAY 27TH AND TODAY IS JUNE 17, STILL NOT FIXED. EVERYDAY FOR A WEEK AND A HALF IT HAS BEEN "IT'LL BE READY TOMORROW, I GIVE YOU MY WORD." THEY SAY IT'S THE FIRST MANUAL TRANSMISSION THEY HAVE SEEN GO BAD IN 7 YEARS, JUST MY LUCK.

for what its worth my GF has an 05 TJ she bought about a year ago with less than 50k miles. when she bought it she claimed to have problems getting it into reverse. at first I told her she just needs to be more careful when shifting into Rev, but after awhile I started noticing that I too was having problems and it just kept getting worse and worse. once I was sure there was NO WAY jeep could tell her there was no problems found, I had her take it to jeep. this was right around Xmas and they ended up having it for almost a month because of holiday work schedules at the warehouses but eventually she got it back and was good as new.
supposedly from what I have found through research this is only a problem on 2005 year NSG370's.
ALTHOUGH a friend of mine with an 07 JKu sahara is starting to have issues with reverse he just doesnt want to admit it yet

Kenny, buy the part from a distributor and take it to them for installation, you'll pay less for it.
