My wife just baught me a Serius satillite radio reciever for my TJ, I found a a place to mount the antenna, but I have no idea where to mount the receiver it self.
I put the antenna under the the cover on the speaker bar, since the antenna is magnetic, it stuck right to the mounting plate, and you can't see it,
I don't want to mount the reciever in the change tray on the top of the dash.
any suggestions, pics, please. thanks

mine's mounted up at the top of the windshield - just to the left of my passenger visor. the wiring is plumbed behind the plastic cladding up there and it is barely visible with my top up.

I used the sticky back mount to stick it to the windsheild and sitting right above the defrost vent.
I will have to remember to remove it when I'm parked somewhere.

The one thing that I dont like is the 12v cigarette lighter thing. I noticed that that it puts the voltage down to 5 volts, is there a way to hard wire it

There are direct wire kits out on the market. Crutchfield had one when I ordered my dad's Sirius for him as a gift. You could start there.

BTW, look into a spell checker....

Sirius
satellite
consequence

if you take apart the cig lighter adapter you'll see a spring connected to a red wire and two black wires, solder an extension wire onto the spring directly and put it back together(wont be able to use the fuse that you took out) then solder another wire onto one of the metal grounding arms that are still showing on the cig lighter adapter, thats your ground, if you have an after market radio take it out and wire in the red wire to the red wire behind the after market radio and then ground the black, make sure the wire you use for power if fused because the cig lighter adapter dosnt have a fuse in it anymore (if your using the radio wiring you're fine)

im a car electronics installer at circuit city... this is how i do ever sirius and XM install

first ground the black wire then run a fuse through the red wire to the positive of your battery then your done. as for your fuse your manual should say or u can call the manufacture and if you want to get real fancy u can use a switch to turn it on and off with like me
