I found what I was looking for. An axle off a 85 Cherokee, had 3.73s & no disconnect. Looks like it should fit. I'll swap my knuckles, brakes and bearings since, those are all new. Also use my ball joints that I installed last October. The axle cost about $100 bucks at a U-pull lot about 15 miles from my house.

I was going to try the drive shaft out of the cherokee as well, I'll have to measure it up.

Any reason why that wouldn't work?

Nice find!

I could be wrong, but the older front driveshafts aren't double cardan. You'd be better off without it.

I found another jeep (93)GC with the double cardan, I took that one out instead. But the axle from the older jeep is in great shape, took of the cover, no rust, everything looks good. I'm still going still replace the pinion seal before I install the axle.

I did the axle swap over the weekend. It was a lot of work but, everything fit great. I took it out for a spin. No diff noise that was nice! drove to work today, agian no noisy diff. A big THANK YOU to everyone that posted. That saved me alot of money. Total parts needed: $86 axle from an 85 Cherokee, $13 drive shaft from a 93 GC. Thanks agin for everyone's help. Very Happy
