First I just had the 242 installed in place of the 249 and when I put it in 4wd it says on the VIC Check 4WD Switch. Does this have to do with swapping the wires on the VIC so it'll recognize the different case? Where is the 4wd Switch? Also apparently now I need a new catalytic converter. I've got the 98 5.9 ZJ and I was wondering if there are any performance or high flow cats available for it. I know the 2.5" inlet and 2.25" outlet make it difficult for any of the universal performance cats to fit. Any help would be appreciated...

Nixt.. Swapping the wires should solve that problem..

For the cat.. I would check summit racing or other place like that... matching the length will be harder than matching input and output..

I just went to a muffler shop and had them cut the cat out and weld a piece of pipe in place of it..

I just ordered the magnaflow high flow direct fit catalytic converter from Jegs for $96. Summit only had the california emissions one for like $323. So hopefully everything will go together.

Are you referring to Swampy? He posted earlier in this topic. He actually wrote the whole tech article himself. It's just a picture of his ZJ before he chopped the top and gave it the stylish Zebra paint. I would have done that when I got my ZJ 5.9 Limited into two wheel drive but I was having ignition coil problems causing it to stall out every 10 to 20 minutes on the way back to Athens. But after I got it back from the shop for that, I did exactly what he did...now I need two new tires.

So you got it plugged in right?

This is what I was talking about: (that he wrote)
On the inside of the truck remove the radio bezel (6 philips screws) and pop it out. There are 3 philips screws in the Vehicle Info center. Pull it out and you will see two sets of plugs, a red one and a black one. I think the red ones where hooked up but Iím not sure. But the point is, whichever ones are hooked up, unhook them and hook up the others.

Is this what you were talking about?

P.s. Did you see my post regarding the pros and cons of the 242/249 swap...any input?

I haven't swapped the wires yet because it hasn't come up on the VIC since but if it does then I'll surely swap the wires. (I think it only came on in neutral and 4-lo I don't recall.) I'll try it out on the way to work today and let you know tomorrow. I did see your other post and I replied to it. Good luck with the swap and finding the correct T-case. I lucked out and got one out of a 97 ZJ on ebay that matched my 98 249 perfectly. Anyway let us know how your swap and lift turn out.
