I haven't posted anything in awhile so I figured I would share some pics. Nothing too interesting. I was hanging around the garage and finished all my projects, so I decided to bust out some black paint and give my ZJs wheels a makeover. They were getting scratched up and stay dirty alot anyway. So I took a sanding disc to them and then sprayed away. I dig it.

Thanks guys. I imagine it won't take long for them to get "shiny" scratches, but at least I can simply tag em again with the paint. OR cover them with mud as you said. lol

I am planning on just buying black rims somewhere down the road, but I want to wait until I decide on a lift, tire size and all that jazz first. This is just my work Jeep anyway, so it's alright if it gets a little rough around the edges, er, wheels. Wink

Did you sand them at all ???

How about clear coat??

If you put a few coats of clear on them it might last a while...

It looks awesome..

I did sand them first but at the moment there is no clear coat. I put about 6 coats of black on there so I figured I better give it a few days to cure. I do plan on putting some on there.

It's amazing how many people that I know who never say anything about my Jeep (like my dad) have already commented on how nice it looks now. Strange. As my brother-in-law said, "It looks 4x4 tough now." I guess that's why. Rolling Eyes

You would be a lot better off removing the tires and taking the wheels to get powder coated.

Over time you will get scratches. When you change your tires, the balance weights reveal the aluminum. If you are goin to paint the rims properly, you should take your balance weights off before you clear coat them. (Same with lug nuts).

Yeah, yeah...I deserve that. Embarassed heh heh

No neon lights are going to find their way under this baby!

And as far as powdercoating them, I would...if I cared that much. But I don't. This was just for fun. I don't care if they get scratched. I have more paint! lol I don't plan on using them for that much longer anyway. I plan on lifting it and putting wider rims and taller tires on. I just got bored in the meantime...that's all. Cool

I think these will be just right! Finger

Nice idea! I will probably do the same when I get a chance. Or get bored...

I forgot to post the pics of the clear coat on them once I finally did that. Here ya go.

For those of you who will surely ask...no, I didn't clear coat my tires. Rolling Eyes I had just sprayed them down with Armor All when I took the pic.
