I have a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee mainly for a Deer Lease vehicle (recently acquired - Was looking for a 4x4 but for the price, I couldn't pass up the 96 4x2). My lease is primarly dirt roads, which should be fine with the 2wd version (I'm not going mudding).

Just wanted to know how well these vehicles (2wd) would do in some mud, wet grass, and other off road applications.

Good for your application.

Only way to know for sure is to try it out. Seriously, go. Go now, drive!

Just curious on how it does on mud, guess I'm going to have to find out. I can drive over a mile into the boons and dirt. If it rains hard, I just wanted to make sure I can make it out.

It will all depend on conditions. You can always put on some all terrain tires for added traction. They are good on and off road. Just find some nice used ones on Craigslist.org. You should be able to find some nice all terrains for under $300.
