Electronic connections sealed from water.
Steel cable wrapped correctly under tension.
Clean and free of dirt.

no i find oil attracts dirt , i keep my cable very dry and rust fee .

my pulling cable is a little oiled up because i took it off a crane (had a small kink in it 10 feet in to 150' ) oh well rules are rules . just like all those nicked slings i keep around , man i love poor riggers .

you could spary some graphite spray on it or something but i don't see the need .

i always fry a motor way before i have cable problems , just keep it wrapped good and tight and always leave a full wrap on the drum and you will have a lot less problems .
