Hello everyone.

So three Days ago Took my Jeep in for a State inspection. I moved from Florida to Maryland and transfered title etc to Maryland. I was told the best place to go would be a local mechanic (not this one though)

Since I do have experience in wrenching, I first went over the entire checklist and did a state "inspecion" myself.

Dealers charge $100 plus
Local charges $50

So I dropped the Jeep off and came back 40 minutes later. This is the list of things he said was wrong with it.

1. Muffler-I did not consult him on this, he just wrote muffler. The muffler is 2 years old, my dealership replaced it with my Catalytic convertor for free....

2. Power Steering- He said it was "Heavy and hard to turn" I never noticed this, however it did get heavier since I put the 30 inch TIRES on. He said he "Tested countless Cherokees and none of them had this problem" The Steering started sticking before we got home!!!I checked my fluid once I got to the house and It had water in it! SO I DRAINED THE RESERVOIR and it sticks a little now

3. HEADLIGHTS- he said because I had blue headlights It would not pass, ALSO SAID THEY WHERE DIM.....they are bright as hell!
***********Yesterday***** My wife came and picked me up from work and I noticed a Headlight was out! I intended to replace the lights anyway so when we got home I removed the Battery...(I REPLACED THE HEADLIGHT 2 months ago) THIS time however I noticed it was loose, and It was probably why the light BLEW. I painted the couplers with High temp paint RED SO I can see them if i have to replace them at night. THERE WAS A SCREWDRIVER SIZE DENT in one of the grips!!! I am sure the "mechanic" took a screwdriver and spun it open.

4.BRAKE HOSE-I inspected the brake hose. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with it. HE SAID "If the black comes off the metal We have to FAIL YOU" This is the brake line on the Passenger Side against the wheel well.

So I am more then convinced that he sabotaged two things on My Jeep. I have no real way of proving it. I have not had time to check the muffler. I did however check the BRAKE FLUID and ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION.

It seems that all the things on the checklist are SUPER easy to do, it is however EXPENSIVE for me to pay someone to do it.

When they where explaining the problems they where acting as if this was the first time I DROVE THE JEEP. I have had it for 7 years, do they assume they can rip people off because they JUST got the car and ignorant of its condition?

MARYLAND GOVERNMENT IS FORCING you to be RIPPED OFF!

I am taking it to a local dealer to get it inspected, I am sure it will pass this time.

SHOULD I GO KICK THE GUYS ASS?
would make me feel better.
Cool
