I'm having some trouble getting my YJ to start. Last night I was driving home when my alternator crapped out on me. So needless to say the Jeep died and I had to tow it home. This morning I went out and purchased a new alternator and installed it. My battery was dead so I tried to boost it. Now I have charge, it is turning over but the damn thing won't fire. Please Help!

Sir there is only three things in a older engine that would cause it not to start.

FUEL, AIR, SPARK.

So check to see if you are getting spark, make sure no FUSES for fuel pump blew. THERE IS a schrader valve on the fuel rail. tap that a FEW TIMES to see if fuel comes out. Listen out for the fuel pump. LISTEN for the fuel pump. Also see if you have trouble codes.

sometimes a fuse can blow that runs the fuel pump.

1. CHECK IGNITION number 1 to see if spark is happening.

2. Confirm you are getting GAS.

good luck.

And wright what was the end result.

hope this can help.

pull a plug and keep it connected. make sure you do this BEFORE THE FUEL TEST.

Did you check all the fuses? Do your gauges move when you turn the key on? If not, try moving the wires around by the distributer until they do then start it. This is a pretty common problem so I thought I would through it out there. Its your TPS Throttle position sensor that needs checked out.
