A friend of mine just bought a Warn M8000 Winch, The box that the controller plugs in to, How does it mount to the winch?
We are wondering if it was shipped missing the mounting bracket, or do we have to fab one up?

There is in fact a bracket that is sold separately. Or rather, was when I bought mine a few years back. I just sandwiched mine with a bracket assembly to the grill. Can't quite see it in this image, but shows where. Probably not for everyone but works fine for me.

I'm surprised that that didn't include at least some type of mounting bracket.

Here's My friends new Hanson bumper and Warn winch setup.

He also bought a rear Garvin bumper that was missing the U-bolt and clamp, but can hold a shovel, axe, spare tire, hi-lift jack, two Gerri cans, and has a cooler storage rack. That's a lot of crap hanging off the back...

An update, My friend whent back to the place (4 west) where he baught all his stuff and they gave him the mounting bracket, I guess they now supply them with the winch, they just didn't pack it in the box.
One bad thing is, the bracket is about 4 inches longer than it needs to be, it also makes the power cables seem streched, so I'm going to cut it and re-drill the holes to where it almost sits on the cross rods of the winch. As it is right now the top of the control box is even with the top of the grill slots, it looks dorky and can't help with cooling.

The cool thing is, he gave me his old front and rear tube bumpers.
I did a half ass internet research and found that might be Olympic or Mopar. I'm guessing that Mopar buys the bumpers from Olympic and sells them as there own.

I'll try to get some more pics of the finished front and rear bumpers.
We cut the mounting bracket, and used the bottom hole of the bracket to mount the top stud of the box, witch lowered the control box about 3 1/2 inches, and also put less tension on the power cables.

The rear bumper still needs to have the third brake light mounted, even though the instructions do give dementions of where to cut and drill, we are hesitant to cut the excess plastic off.

And yeah, if I had the money, I'd get the same or the stubby Hanson bumper, they are beefy and bitchen looking.
