Hello, have a yj - only way i can start it if it has been sitting more than a day is with eather.

I rebuilt the carb and paid close attention to the accelerator pump - also within the past year changed out the mechanical fuel pump and fuel filter.

Any ideas?

im completely baffled.

thanks

Eric,
Ether is poison to an internal combustion engine. BOTH Diesel and Gas engines. It should be used as starting fluid ONLY in an emergency and no more that a small puff near the air intake, not down the carburetor. Once it is used in the wrong fashion, it will blow the rings out and the engine actually becomes addicted to it and will not start without it when it is cold. To prove this, take a compression check with a cold engine and then after it warms up an see what the difference is. If it is more than 30 psi difference between cold to hot, that is your problem. Now it will need a rebuild or engine swap. Sad
