my problem is everytime i i turn the volume up past 40 it shuts off and turns back on and keeps doing it till i turn it down, im thinking it could be the ground cause when i pulled the deck out the 2 black ground wires were connected together so i took them apart and hooked one up to the stereo chassis and the other to the back of the stereo considering i cant find anything else thats metal behind the deck. but i turned it on and blasted it and again it shut off, any suggestions? am i doing something wrong?

this is what i got. blaupunkt san diego head unit that is powering 2 dash speakers and 2 soundbar speakers. the jvc 2 channel amp is powering the 1 10" sub.

how old is the headunit? does the power turn off or do the speakers just stop playing for a second? ive seen older units cut out when you turn it up because they just cant handle producing that much power anymore on its internal amp, one of your speaker wires may be loose and grounding out on the body, but i highly doubt it if it only happens when you turn it up.

best way to test it is by either getting another radio and plugging it in and turning it up, or you could disconnect one pair of speakers and try turning it up to the cut out volume and see if it does it with just 2 speakers still connected, if it still does, its time for a new radio...

FYI ive seen brand new stereos come out of the box and do this too, could be a manufacture defect, ive installed over a thousand stereos so ive seen it all

If your amplifier is drawing current through the head unit, the draw may be more than the head unit can handle, so it shuts down to protect itself. Disconnect the amplifier and see if it will stay on. If it stays on try putting the amplifier on a relay so you won't pull the current through the head unit.
