Hiya,
Anybody else notice the increase in spam on this site? I've PM'd to moderators and got no reply. What say you all or are you all going to buy ugg boots?

First of all PM-ing a moderator isn't likely to do any good because we don't have the power to ban anyone, only the admins do. So until they are able to get to that and ban the user and IP address, all the moderators can do it try to keep an eye on the forum and remove posts as they come up.

If it's any consolation, every single forum out there fights this. Those who aren't involved in the removal have no idea what it's like...and exactly why many forums have gone to requiring key questions be answered so a bot can't get past that, along with captcha codes. So next time you register for a forum or something and they have those PITA security things in place, understand that it's necessary nowadays to keep the POS PITA spammers from entering the forum in the first place.

Thanks for that answer IB...Yup I realise it IS a problem. Just seems to be occuring more frequently is all.

This is one of many forums that I frequent. I try my best to get rid of the spam posts. IBTJ'n and myself seem to be the only Mods that are taking care of the situation. Just out of curiousity, which Mods have you PM'd.
