So this was an idea I just had...we should plan a couple of wrenching parties over the winter months, here's my thinking:

1) I'm gonna be doing a bunch of winter mods on the XJ.

2) Vic is perpetually doing mods to his XJ.

3) Trevor is thinking about lifting his TJ.

4) I'm sure Allen has some plans for his XJ.
5) Dale lives vicarously through wrenching our mods since he is not allowed to mod his own.
Finger rofl

I definatley have the room now to wrench two Jeeps at once in the garage regardless of weather...so let's git r dun! Wink

Thoughts, ideas, comments?

Kewl. I know the last deal fell through. Put feelers out on the boards. When I was looking, I had 2 or 3 that I found through NAXJA, they were just a little further away then the guy I bought it from. I found him on JU. The XJ D44's are out there, you'll find one. Wink

When you do, it's an easy swap. We could get it installed in less than a day no problem.

As for me, I have a modest list for the winter:
[1] Cooling upgrades including, 3 row radiator, manual bypass for the aux fan and possibly a high flow water pump
[2] Manual bypass for the AW4 TCU
[3] Install Four Real front bumper and Warn winch
[4] Home brew the rear leafs to get 3-4 inches of lift and install coils to match
[5] Bumpstop plates in the rear to tune the rear suspension correctly
[6] Adj. front trackbar...extension bracket at a minimum.
[7] ZJ pitman arm
[8] Possible T-case drop (will most likely need it)
[9] Lots of wiring to accomodate all of the cool switches with blinky lights
rofl

Will that satisfy yer craving for mods Dale?

Steve, I have my own list, it's a little longer than yours, but we'll be able to get it all done. Here goes:

1. Cooling upgrades including, 3 row radiator, manual bypass for the aux fan and possibly a high flow water pump
2. Manual bypass for the AW4 TCU
3. Home brew the rear leafs to get 3-4 inches of lift and install coils to match
4. Bumpstop plates in the rear to tune the rear suspension correctly
5. Adj. front trackbar...extension bracket at a minimum.
6. Install new RE 4.5 coils
7. Install new bumper and Warn winch
8. Install Optima battery
9. Install Dana 44 rear
10. ZJ pitman arm
11. Possible T-case drop (will most likely need it)
12. Lots of wiring to accomodate all of the cool switches with blinky lights
13. Front tow hooks

I may add a few things as the winter months roll in. rofl

Did I mention 1-12 are not on my XJ

Let's see...

1.] Install Four-Real Safari Roof-Rack, w/ aluminum rails, tire carrier, and Hi-Lift Jack mounts...
2.] Mount my PIAA lights on the front-part of the rack along with two more round lights flanking them...
3.] Mount two rear-facing square lamps on the rear rack for back-up purposes...
4.] Wire up the whole $%#%^-da%^ mess together to a switch box...
5.] Install the hood-lifts that Mako products sells that pulls the hood slightly away from the gasket in the back, allowing more air into the engine area (to cool the $%^-bi#@$ off!!!!)...
6.] Buying and installing Warn front-and-rear bumpers with the eye-let shackles, front push bar, 2" receivers, and rear tire carrier (and cursing myself for buying the damn $%^$ tire-carrier for the roof-rack in the first place), and removing my rear receiver and front tow hooks and trying to work a deal with Dale on them (then ending up GIVING the damn things to him for helping me install all the crap from 1-to-6... Finger rofl ).

Yup, that sums it all up for me...

Ohh, one more thing...

6.] Kicking myself in the a$$ for buying rear AALs in the first place and watching my rig sink FASTER in the rear, then buying a Superflex 5.5 lift kit with SYE, T-Case drop, and the works and BEGGING everyone to come over in the dead of winter to help install it!!! rofl rofl rofl )

Anything I've missed?

I'd pass on the hood lift...the back of the hood is not considered a "hot spot". They are more towards the front and center on XJ's. A down and dirty (and cheap) solution would be to install some hood vents similar to what Swampy has done to his ZJ:

Then save yer money and install a 3 row metal radiator (as opposed to the 2 row, plastic POS that's in there now).

Ok, I will be getting 3" Superflex leaf springs from 4Wheel Drive Specialists for a great price, so that will replace the sagging leafs. I had to cancel my order for the roof rack for now due to family medical issues that popped up, but I will have the leafs ready to install real soon.
