How do I change my hard top to a soft top. I don't have any of the hardware for it and can only find the replace a tops in the magazines. Where would I get the complete hardware to make this happen?

You have 2 options....
1) Find a stock soft top on Ebay or for sale forums on Jeep boards. Try and get a Sailcloth top (2001+) as they're more quiet, tighter, and don't flap as much. Make sure it has all the bows, brackets, bolts, door surrounds, rear window spreader bar, etc. It'll install easily.

2) Get a Bestop SuperTop. This replaces all the stock hardware with the Bestop hardware.

Personally, avoid option #2. The Supertop hardware is similar to what was found on the CJs and YJs. It's an upgrade if you have a CJ or YJ, but it's a step backward on a TJ. This is one case where the stock engineered parts are the best.

EDIT: You could also go to a dealer and order a brand new stock soft top, but be prepared to spend about $1000 or more for everything.

The other thing I'd recommend, is replacing the plastic pieces that attach the bows to the sports bar with one of the metal replacement sets. They won't bend/break like the plastic and really tightened mine up. Wink
These are what I have.

Thanks, I will check into the modified pieces. I noticed though that I don't have anything to mount those metal replacements to. Since it is a hard top only, I think that they didn't put in the tab that they mount to? I was thinking of checking on e bay or even a junkyard for those parts!

If you buy a complete stock soft top like I suggested, those pieces should be included. You need to look for a complete top.
