Hey everyone.

Heres the deal.. Iím on my 3rd Cherokee. The current one is a Grand Cherokee but I have traded it for a 98 Cherokee Sport. (Which I donít have yet because the dealer is certifying it)

When I test drove it, It seemed like it was revving high. I was going 100klms (60mph) and I seem to recall the tach sitting at 3000rpms.

I pulled over, started again and listened for the four shifts. It went through 4 gears without hesitation.

My current Cherokee, at 100k (60mph) only revs about 1500-2000rpms. I have Light Truck All terrain tires on the GC. The new one has factory tires on it with a smaller diameter.

Can there be that much difference? Or is something wrong with the tranny on the new one? I replaced the tranny on the GC. Donít want to end up there again!

2nd, Im planning to go to a lift kit and 31 inch tires. Do I need a 3 or 4 inch lift kit?

Thoughts comments are greatly appreciated.

That RPM is high....sounds more like it was doing 80 or 85 and not 60. If the tranny is running through all the gears, I'm not sure what the problem could have been...at least not without more info.

As far as tires/lift. You could fit 31's with a 3" lift and extended bumpstops. You might have to do some fender trimming as well depending on the backspacing of the rims.
