Okay guys found a couple of XJs, my thing is I like the 231, is it better than the 242 or just as good??

Well Carl (swampy) took his 249 out so he could put in a 242. I like the 242 because it has more gear options, but the 231 in my XJ is doing a good job so far. If I had to pick between the 242 and the 231... I would prolly' go with the 242.

vic get the new 4 wheel drive mag has pros and cons on all kinds of Tcases

i have the 242, no problems... ok, thats a lie, i'm on my third one. but i like'em so damn much.

yes, tcase number three. the first one was the orignal with over 400,000kms on it. (248500miles) so it was due

the second one, i got ripped on

and the last one, still going, has no problems...

Thanks guys!! Found a Cherry 89 XJ, super nice and clean!! Almost hate for her to wheel it.........okay time up!! Time to wheel it now rofl Has the 231, very nice!! She's happy, if you couldn't tell by her post, LOL Mr. Green

For the record.. I have since swapped in a 231 D (dodge truck ) and It is hella stronger than a 242... The weak point on a 242 is the full time planetary set that they used to replace the Vicuos Coupler .. I completly gutted mine on a rock pile.. Let me look around and see if I have a picture...
