I recently bought a pair of sony xplode 6 1/2 speakers to replace the blown out front speakers in my 1995 jeep grand cherokee. To much surprise it didnt fit! It looked like the speakers were the right size its just it was to small to screw in. Could anyone help me with the spec to the front speakers? I dont think theres any size bigger then 6 1/2 w/o going directly to 6x9's. Any help would be appreciated.

I am using 6 1/2 s in mine.. I just used some small brackets and bolted them to the door and then the speakers to that..

They are called mending brackets at home depot I believe.. Just straight pieces of metal with holes drilled in them.. Near the shelf brackets and door knobs and such..

Best buy carry's an adapter it's 12.99 I believe but it's a chrysler speaker adapter to adapt a 6.5" speaker to fit in the stock 7" hole. It has the 3 tabs for the original screws to go into the door then 4 holes on the inside of the ring for your new speaker

Looks like this. Hope that helps
