Embarassed I have a 86 Jeep Cherokee 4wd 5 speed 6 cyl. It has a carbeutor where is the tps sensor located???Help!!!!!!

With a carb the TPS is usually internal...operational word there is "usually". With an 86 you prolly have the 2.8 V6, and thus the Rochester Varajet. I'm honestly not sure where the TPS is on that carb.

I'll see what I can find out.

I've had the problem on a friends xj. I have an 86 also, but fuel injected. His sensor was on the back side of the carburator. It's hidden by the fuel lines/vaccum lines. it only has two wires vs. the normal three wires. And it screws in, usually a box wrench of a good set of small vise grips can get it out. If I remember right there's no adjustment for that sensor. It was a big problem for that year. So they changed it to what I have now.

i've heard that the carb should come off to get at the sensor properly.

carbs dont have tps

Thanks its still going nuts something is causing the RPM's to rev up not sure what....
