Wanted to get FM2CD members opinions on this. It would be a joint VA Chap. and GA Chap. run. It's between 4 and 5 hours from us here in VA. In case you don't know what Uwharrie is, go here.

We do have a rapidly filling plate next year, but I would like to try to do this. My call would be in the autumn since we already have the JH Southeast run in the spring..

Steve

Ya I vote for fall too. That way we have one camping trip in the spring to KY and another one to NC. Also we spread out the big trips and we are not taking them all at once.

Given that of all the people who have voted so far, it sounds like it's settled for next fall, say September/October. (And Steve I'm sorry, but we are not wheeling for our one-year anniversary.)

White knuckle driving at it's best for a Stocker with 31" tires on the "easier" trails! Totally depends on the past weather. Got my first dents there and lots of pulling going on.

Just a suggestion, but have ya'll looked at Uwharrie? Stocker friendly and plenty of trails for the Beefy'er rigs too. Closer to VA as well.

However we need to keep the stockers in mind. If it's not so stocker friendly, I'm conserned about Dale being able to make it without (getting in trouble with the wife) to much difficltly since his jeep is his wife's daily driver. Dale, your thoughts?

I already got a dent, what's the dfference.

As far as which one to go to. We've got the two choices. Let's look at them both:

Upper Tellico ORV Area - Nantahala National Forest near Murphy, NC
8 hours from Richmond
3 hours from Atlanta

http://www.tellico4x4.com/murphy/trailinfo.htm

Trail rating from 1-10 all represented at site.

Fee: $5.00 per day per vehicle at Forest Service entrance station

Uwharrie OHV Trails - Uwharrie National Forest Troy, NC
4.5 hours from Richmond
5 hours from Atlanta

http://www.cs.unca.edu/nfsnc/recreation/uwharrie/index.htm

Trail Rating is similar to Tellico so far as I can tell.

Fee: $5.00 per day per vehicle at Multiple Local Stores

Both have onsite camping available.

My vote is Uwharrie because of the distance.

from the distance perspective Uwharrie OHV Trails are equal distance for everyone envolved. This would be a better choice I believe, so I vote we go there instead of Upper Tellico ORV Area. GA guys, what are your thoughts?

Very Happy White knuckling can be had on the Uwharrie trail "Daniel," or "Daniel with an Attiude." There are three passes near the top Upper and Middle are the hardest. Heck the bypass on the lower side will cause some folks to suck up their shorts too. Loose shale right up to the edge of the drop off.

Even Stockers can complete Daniel with some well earned engery spent!

I like the closer distance of Uwharrie as well. That's a also good price. All day trailin', BYOJ!!!

Problem is I don't think even by then I'll have all the camping gear ready. Anyone whose been through there know of a good hotel in case we can't camp?

I'd personally rather do Tellico 'cause of the difficulty factor...but since you guys would rather go to Uwharrie, that's what we'll do. It is closer...

I changed the tittle of the thread to reflect it...

Since you are all a bunch of wusses Vic, Godzilla and I will plan our own trip to Tellico. Finger rofl
