Im gonna start looking for a 242 today,Im sure they want a arm and a leg for it pissed
How much is a used one in good cond. where you live?

Around here you can get one for $200 or so.. Maybe less if you get lucky..

Goerge at Transfercases unlimited.. Sells them Ready to install for $800 or so... Rolling Eyes

Maybe you can get one for a good price.. Good luck..

Kind of a bad angle but Looks like it has flat sides ..
If its sorta shaped like a stop sign then its a 44 ..
If its mostly round its a 35.. Oh and 44 in a Grand would be aluminum .. There fore a magnet will tell you right away...

86.000 miles Im the 3rd owner,very smooth ride and off-road capable too gotta love it Cool
Next summer when Im done with my Pontiac Ill start on the 242 project and maybe a airlocker for the front......and replace that driveshaft.

Very simple. Just pull out the CV's and put in the U-jointed shafts..

You will loose ABS.. So pull the ABS relay and fuse out from under the hood.

Nope dont have to pull the diff cover.. It will slide right out.

Dana 30 is a semi floating axle .. NO c-clips but cant be driven without outer axles..(The hub is held together by the outer axle..)
