I got my 8.8 swap done today. The old Dana turdy five is resting happily in the garage. Believe it or not I was able to use the stock upper control arms, no SYE and 1" of TC drop and managed to achieve 1 degree of U joint cancellation in the drive line. Yes, that's right, stock uppers and a slip yoke and no vibes! I have some minor things to finish up. I gotta tap the new breather hole I drilled since I am reusing the TJ T for the brakes and breather line and tack a bolt into the old breather hole. I also need to get some 1/8" C channel and fab two swaybar brackets. To reuse the TJ brake/breather line T all you need is another PASSENGER side rear brake hose to put on the DRIVER side of the axle. The TJ hardlines can be used, but they will be a bit long. This swap also netted me an inch of lift in the rear (about 1/2" from the difference in size of the axle and another 1/2" in the height difference of the spring pads. I have to say, the difference between disc brakes and drums is night and day. The Jeep brakes a lot better than when it was stock on 31's with drums. Thing stops on a dime. I still have about 2" of clearance from the tire to the upper spring perches (12.5" wide tires). Now I need to take it down to Uwharrie and do a test run. Here are some pics for ya folks.
