No. ATKOs are not the way to go if you do mud. They will become racing slicks in no time flat. Super Swampers are the best tire in mud. I suggest Trxus MTs (from the same company as SS's) as they're more road friendly than any SS will be.

Yah, I ran ATko's awhiles back and they aren't the best in the mud. The tread cake's up pretty easy and it's not gonna clean out until ya hit the ashpalt. I don't do much mud anymore, so I'm not gonna recommend anything...the ATko's are a real good all around tire, but they're more for light trail riding with their primary strength concentrating on onroad behavior.

I just found some 32"x9.50 TSL Super Swampers for $116, are these to narrow for mud? and if not will they work well on a 15x8 wheel.

I also agree with whats been said about BFG ATko's and mud. I ran them on the XJ and they become caked up and worthless in mud. I now run BFG MT's (XJ) and GY MTR's (TJ) and both sets have been great both on and off road.

Having said that, lots of folks here (like ehirner) will swear by the Trxus MT. I've never run them myself but, if it were me, I would trust their experiences. They will be my next set of tires on both Jeeps. Wink
