The glory in the code is when the State Police stops you and sees the lift blocks in the front coils, which he would more than likely not do, the code does not specify wether it's leaf springs or coil springs and you'll be getting a ticket. The lawmakers leave it up to the interpretation of the Judge. I could go back to the tinted window incident, but I won't.rofl Like the post says, "I Love Virginia," but I guess the laws are like that everywhere.

After reading all that I am certainly glad I live in KY and not VA. The business I am going into relies on altered suspensions and living in VA would ruin me!! Kentucky doesn't care which is really cool.
Buuut we have some stupid laws too.
1) It is illegal to carry an ice cream cone in your pocket.
2) It is illegal to urinate on any federal buildings.
3) It is illegal to operate a brewery on Sunday unless you blow a whistle first...
4) It is illegal to walk backwards on a public street after sunset.

We have our share, beleive me....!! LOL

No motor vehicle whose front-end suspension has been modified by the use of lift blocks shall be driven on any highway in the Commonwealth.

Whelp, that just outlawed about 95% of the folks west of Richmond... rofl

But it's not surprising, and I truly doubt it gets enforced unless there's another offense attached to it, like the Seat-Belt Law used to be. Vic, did the cop pull you over for anything else that time?

Bumper height is 22" for a passenger vehicle (damn, how lame is that?!) and stock ride height on a Jeep is 17.5" to 18 "...with 33's and 4" of lift, you do the math

it sucks that the Jeep can't be considered a truck or something that can have more bumper height than a passenger vehicle

(p.s. look at the siggy Finger )

yea yea....4" and 33's is nothing to brag about but hey, it gets me where I want to go Wink

You should be able to get it registered as a light truck. That would get you good to bumper heights of 28".

I found a few other stupid ones that are currently on the books here:
Quote:
It shall be unlawful and a Class 1 misdemeanor for any person to stand any wagon or other vehicle on the track of any railroad, so as to hinder or endanger a moving train.

"endanger a moving train"...riiiiiight.

This ain't a vehicle law...but it's still pretty stupid:
Quote:
No person shall play on a highway, other than on the sidewalks thereof, within a city or town or on any part of a highway outside the limits of a city or town designated by the Commonwealth Transportation Commissioner exclusively for vehicular travel.

If you're out playing on a highway, maybe we'll all get lucky when you remove yourself from the gene pool...why do we need to protect stupid people with legislation? Rolling Eyes

yea stevo you really get screwed on the height law cuz u dont really have bumbers that hang down its pretty much just and extension of your frame...and speakin on the laws and such i work at krogers and quite a few cops come in and i ask them if they know the lift heights and they do i said well suppose you see me alone or me and a small group traveling together that look questionable would you stop us...most of them replied saying that if it lookd like we were driving carelessly or something on our vehicles stuck out as a major hazard would he then pull us over...so in most cases i guess it really depends on the cop...but the ricers get a lot of crap around here mainly cuz of how they drive...stupid....

Gawd, if that law was in effect back when I was in school, we'd have been made poor. That's all we did, Nerf Football in the middle of the street, all year long... Crying or Very sad Sad
