i have a 95zj and for the past few weeks the VIC will beep and service 4 wheel drive switch comes up. If u give the switch a smack forward it usually goes off, but i want to fix this problem now. Does anyone know what needs to be tightened of adjusted, i got under there and screwed around but cant seem to find a way to adjust it. Thanks.

If you are hitting the gear selector and the light goes out.. Try adjusting the shifter a little..

You will see it on the side of the t case..

If that doesnt work... Maybe the switch is going out.. They are available at the dealer...

The Mode selector switch is actually on the tail of the transfercase...
There are two plugs .. ONe is for speedo .. And the other (4 wires ) is for the mode selector switch.. I was telling him to check the plugs behind the VIC ... You take outthe 6 screws in the surround and take out the VIC and then check all the plugs..

Goodluck..

I'm having the same problem. The dealership said it needs to be adjusted and wants 40 bucks. I figure if it costs so little it must be something i can do myself. Can you be more specific about how i can adjust this by myself. What tools i will need and how hard it may be? Thanks. Maybe a picture of diagram would be helpful.

I think its a 14mm ... Just look under the jeep you will see the linkage on the side of the t case.. Loosen the 14mm bolt and pull it back a tiny bit... See how that does..

Sorry I havent gotten the photo yet.. I had the craziest week ever at work... Every refrigeration unit in the entire restraunt crashed on me and I had to get them all back going ... IT sucked.. (even the beer coolers where out.. That hurt the most... Shocked )

Anyway.. I will draw the wireing diagram to add to the Electric fan writeup and take pictures of the linkage tommorow... So very sorry...
