OK.. How many miles on it?? Has it been serviced lately??

I assume you checked the fluid.. Tranny making noise is not normal..

Start by buying a filter and gasket from autozone.. and a case of cheap tranny fluid. And 7 quarts of good fluid. Then drain your tranny(Remove the cover drain ...Put it back....) .. Leave the old filter in.. Put 4 quarts of new fluid in the tranny with new fluid. Then remove the tranny cooling line.. (Near the radiator..Just follow it up from the tranny...) Put that line in a bucket. and start the engine. It will start to spray. Hold your foot on the brake and put it in drive .. Give it a little gas. Just enough to engage the torque converter... Have someone watch or when you feel the jeep stop trying to pull stop... Fill it up again.. This time It should take about 6 or 7 quarts.. do it again til its dry and then you are flushed and ready to go...
Then take the cover off again whipe the inside of the cover really good ..Clean the magnet and put the new filter on.. Make sure you let all the old fluid drain out before you put on your new filter...
When you put on the new filter and rebolt your tranny pan.. (Use Small amount of RTV to hold gaskey on...)
Then refil it with a good tranny fluid of your choice.. I use Valvoline but I know everyone has their favorite...
It will take at least 6 quarts ..Run it around the block or something and check the fluid.. You may need to add some.. Because you have to refill the torque converter.. Fill as needed.. And see how that does...

IF the noise doesnt go away at least you can rest assured that its not dirty tranny doing it to you...
Mr. Green

My second course of action would be take off the front drive shaft and drive around. When the Ujoints go bad they can make alot of strange noises and vibrations... Drive around with no front shaft a little and see if the noise goes away..
Post back and let us know what happens..

Carl
