Ok I've done some research on the 93 Grand Cherokee and found out there were quite a few recalls. I am buying one from a friend. I've driven it and it runs fine. It has 188K+ on it. The first thing i want to do is install a new stereo. How many speaker outputs should the new radio have? I guess my question is: how many speakers are there in the 93 GC. It has the am/fm tape player. Everything is power. And maybe someone could suggest a good indash reciever or even a cd changer.
Also, with the recalls, if they haven't been done, do i simply go to a dealership and have tem done. Can someone explain that process to me, please...Tony

You just go to the dealer and ask them if there is any recall work lacking on the vehicle.. They will pull up the vin and let you know..

There are 6 speakers in the ZJ .. 2 in the dash one in each door...

Stereo's are so vast you will have to decide that for yourself.. I personally like JVC or AIWA .. But thats just me...

is recall work usually free? I mean does it matter that i am buying it from someone else. and how long do recalls last? IS there a time period in which you must have it done?

This is from NHTSA:
There is no time limit or ownership requirement on getting recall work done. If you buy a used car, you may visit http://safercar.gov/ to search for any recalls, past or present, or other safety issues with the particular make, model, and model year of the vehicle. If you find that there has been a recall, you should check with the manufacturer's dealer to find out if the work has been done. If not, you are entitled to have the remedy performed.

And yes recall work is free.
