Evenin' Folks,

Well, I've got a new noise in my 02, SE Mule. It seems to be engine rpm related. At 1800 to 2000, theres a medium high pitched "pulsing" sound...like maybe an accessory bearing wearing or pully slightly bent. I'm taking her in to the dealer after the holidays.

Just wondered if any of you have had something simular.

It's a 2.5 , 5 spd, A/C with 53000 miles, and runs great otherwise.

I hope you all have a safe Merry Christmas and a great New Year.

Barry

Raise the hood and listen to it... ITs probobly either the idler pulley or a tensioner pulley.. they go bad.. Its not a big deal till they lock up and break your belt.. Then the stupid $20 part cost you a $25 belt.. pissed That sucks..

Let us know..

HAHAHAHA........more like hamsters from hell.......!

Black2001TJ........at first I thought so.....but it's engine rpm related in any gear. It's weird cuz it's only in the 1800-2000 grand range.

Swamp Boy.......I think your right.......I'll be off hitch tonight and give it a listen this evening.....I'll sure let ya'll know when I find out.

Thanks guys

Barry

Well guys......finally got back on the planet. The "Strange noise" turned out to be the drive belt. Had an "unusual wear" pattern the mech said.. put a new one on, while getting a tune up and coolant change, and all is good. Only "noise" was a faint "chirp" out of the alt bearing when spun by hand, and the tensioner was just fine.

I'm a lot relieved.

Just a side note.....I installed a set of Hella 500 fogs and boy, are they nice. Got them from 4X4 connection for $69.00. I really need it here in deer country since we get a bunch of fog and my job dictates that I leave in the morning at dark....... and get home at dark thirty.

Just wanted to pass it on.

Later,
Barry
