I didn't have a problem like this, I don't know of a site that could help you....most replacement antenas out of an aftermarket parts catalog are for 76-95 CJs & Wranglers.

I would try your local junkyard for starters. thumbs [/url]

TJFreak-

I used to work on these type of Jeeps all the time. Many of the Jeeps that were going to be sold as "service" type Jeeps or to the government came with no radio and no antenna. Heck a lot of them didn't even have speakers in them!!!

You can go to an Auto Electronics retailer and buy the antenna with an extension piece to get you up behind the dash. OR you can go to the stealership and order one in for about a million dollars....
Installing it is very easy. There should be a spot on the passenger side fender that is set aside for the antenna. Its going to have to be drilled so break out the drill and a good size bit. You want to drill a hole big enough for the antenna wire to fit through, and then 4 small ones to match up to the holes that are already in the antenna base. You may take a look at another TJ just so you can get an idea of what to do. Very simple and shouldn't take too long.

Why would 97 Wranglers be made for that?

Probably some utility companies used them - I know one of the local water districts fad a few.

I bought my old '97 new off the lot. I wanted a bare bones model, so the only options I got were the rear seat/carpet combo. I opted not to get the factory radio since I had an aftermarket head unit I was gonna install. The Jeep had no radio, speakers, or antenna but did have all the wiring present so it was a plug in job afterwards. Not sure what year radios became standard equipment on SE's, but I can confirm that it wasn't in '97....so it's nothing outta the ordinary to have Mr. Green .

Oh yeah, I ordered my antenna kit from Leon Rosser. Came with the wiring, mast, base, etc. Complete factory setup.

Why does it say "Wrangler Cherokee 1997-2001" ?? They are including both the Wrangler and Cherokee years together I guess???

It's probably their way of simplifying their site. It looks like when you order, you have a choice of several models.

Yup, they do it that way because it's 2 less entries in the form, simplifing it. 97 was a redesign year for both models: Wranglers went from YJ's to TJ's and Cherokees had the whole "body redesign" thingamajig.
