I just bought an 89 Cherokee 4.0L and have diagnosed that the ignition coil is not sending a charge to the distributor. There is power to the ICM and I just bought a new coil. Could it possibly be the computer? Any thoughts? Help would be greatly appreciated. _________________ Need Help very badly..........AAAHHHHH!!! |

I had the same problem with mine. There is a crankshaft sensor mounted in the top of the bell housing. This sensor is needed to detect TDC on start. Once the engine is running it does not need the sensor any more. You can get to it without having to dismantle anything. The sensor is not very expensive. You can see it if you look down on the bell housing from the top, drivers side. _________________ Mike Ireson |

Nope, didn't work, Brand new CPS and doing the same thing. There's power all the way to the coil, but won't send spark todistributor. Any thoughts? _________________ Need Help very badly..........AAAHHHHH!!! |

It could be the icm or even the ecm. It is hard to diagnose with out being able to see the vehicle. My advice would be to go to a salvage yard and see if you can get an icm or ecm for cheap and try them. _________________ -1947 jeep willis

I already changed the ICM and it didn't make a difference. How mouch would an ECM run me? _________________ Need Help very badly..........AAAHHHHH!!! |
