I've got a 95 laredo v8 which is acting up occasionally (mostly when cold)-tranny fluid clean and full;128 k miles .

When pulling up to a stop sign, the vehicle sometimes surges forward to the point where i have to brake harder to compensate.

Sometimes braking during surge causes the engine to stall ( a bogging down sound occurs), while other times the tranny will slip and go into a neutral state.

I have to mildly rev the engine ( tranny slippage at acceleration here) to make the tranny catch again when this occurs.

The other thing that corrects the slippage is to quickly manually shift into neutral position and back into drive.

This only occurs during a stop and usually only when its cold. Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

Throttle position sensor has some minor effects on tranny .. And it also helps maintain idle.. Thats where I would start.. And while you are at it... Clean your Idle air control..

I had a very similar problem about 5 years back in my '95. Mine would also die when I would shift from reverse to Drive when cold (lockup torque converter wouldn't unlock ????) My problem was a clogged transmission cooler. A flush, filter change, and new cooler fixed me right up. No problems with the transmission in the last 50K miles.
