Don't have 'em, but I know they make 'em.

I believe you're thinking of these...

http://www.afm4x4.com/armor/skid.htm

I believe they're $20 a pair.

But for some reason, they weren't on the main page. I had to search through Google for afm and jeep...then search for other sites on afm4x4.com to find them. Maybe AFM isn't making them anymore...certainly wouldn't hurt to call. I hope they are, they are in my plans for the front axle's brackets.

Are these really a necessary thing? Seem like overkill to me? I've never seen a broken control arm that I can remember. I've came down HARD on my stock ones and I don't see how my RE ones would break.

I think the premise is more to protect the mount itself than the arm. I've bent up my mounts a little from wheeling. I don't know anyone personally that has tore up a mount that bad, but looking at how thick (or not thick) the OEM mounts are, I can't imagine that it would be out of the question. Hell, for $20 with the link that Erik posted, I think I'd be nuts to pass on them (unless I'd be clever enough to make my own, but I don't trust myself doing that Wink ).

Thanks Erik, as those are about 1/3 the price of skid row, I think they will be worth it. I've seen them on Jeeps and they look to give nice protection and still allow you to take off the control arms with ease..

You do realize these get welded on correct? I don't think they would hinder removal of the arm either way....but just an FYI, b/c they don't use bolts.

erik - turns out you were right about AFM not making them anymore. i contacted AFM through their listed phone number and they put me in touch with mike green - the man they have taking over the fabbing of the skids. i called mike up and talked to him about the skids some. after hearing how he has taken over and is planning on widening his tj parts selection we finally decided on two pair for my jeep. from then on we stayed in contact just through emails. and i mean "stayed in contact". mike was awesome for keeping track of the parts and making sure i was happy thus far. he replied to any emails promptly, notified me immediately when they were shipped out, how they were shipped out, when to expect them, and even threw in a free tee-shirt to get his advertising up some. the guy seems very knowledgeable, friendly, and generally willing to go the distance to gain and keep your business. the skids arrived today - packed well and with the tee-shirt too Smile all four are precisely fabbed - and look like they should weld up snugly to my control arm brackets. i wouldn't hesitate for a second to do business with mike in the future. oh, he also said that he'll be carrying more underbody skids shortly - and that he prefers to do most of his ordering and communicating via email - gives him more time to turn out parts Very Happy
chris

kudos to mike green and a great product!
