Hi, i have a quetion. On my 97 tj at full turn either way i get rubbing of the wheeles on something im not sure what. But is there any way to fix this and is there anyone that has and has pics of they intall.?

What size tires do you have? Larger than stock tires on stock wheels usually creates a rubbing problem on the lower control arms. To solve the problem, you need to do one of the following things.

a) Purchase and install wheels with less backspacing. This will move the wheels and tires further out from the vehicle providing the clearance necessary so you no longer rub the LCAs.

b) Purchase and install some washers underneath the steering stops to prevent the wheels from turning as far.

As you can see, b is by far the easiest and cheapest solution.

Be aware of state laws when pursuing option b. For example in VA it is illegal to use washers on the steering stops...but in VA it is illegal to do most everything. That does not mean I'm telling you not to go with option b, that just means to be aware of your state laws when you go breaking them.


Oh yeah, I agree it's the tires rubbing on the LCA's...I have the same problem.

Im having the same issue. Ill be performing option "b" this week and I will be documentating teh process.
