Hi all,
My 95 cherokee just started having problems with the dash. Seems something is loose under there. The Tach, Speedo and Fuel guage all jump to life and die together, other guages are fine. I am thinking this is a short in the power or maybe a ground problem. I searched and didn't see this specific problem so I am hoping there may be a write up on this fix? Or just let me know what component might be suspect and it's location and I can go searching.

Thanks all!

Ron

Have you gotten water in and/or around the dash cluster recently ???

Not that I know of, unless the windshield seal is failing. But no water has fallen on my feet!

There is a TSB on this...No.08-15-99. The solution is to replace the Instrument Cluster wiring connector. This part number is 05016261AA and it's pretty cheap...under $10, but requires some soldering. This procedure takes around an hour and that includes pulling the instrument cluster.

Since it could also be a bad ground, while you are in there clean all the terminals/pins and put some dielectric grease on them. That should fix 'er up.

Well I got that part and pulled the dash apart. My connector is different than the part number listed. There were two connectors running into the back of the cluster, one for the warning light side of the cluset and another that I am assuming is for the rest of the guages. Has anyone ever seen a different clip on the back? Other than the ground at the back of the valve cover, are there others that could trip this?
