Powder River District Ranger Mark Booth has issued a Finding of No Significant Impact with selection of Alternative 3 as modified in response to public comment of the Clear/Crazy Designated Motorized Trail System as described in the Clear/Crazy Designated Motorized Trail System Environmental Assessment. The selected alternative provides over 200 miles of designated Off-Road Vehicle routes including open roads and designated open trails. Four loops have been developed and Staging areas identified for ORV users.

This decision will implement travel management on approximately 88,000 acres in the southeast portion of the Bighorn National Forest all within Johnson County, Wyoming. About 14 miles of ORV trail will be added connecting a network of roads and trails throughout the area and providing loops that commenters requested. Cross country motorized travel will be prohibited by this decision in the project area. Approximately 8 miles of roads which are parallel to streams or in important wildlife habitat will be decommissioned to reduce sedimentation, improve water quality, and to provide wildlife security areas. Approximately 10 miles of trails will be converted from open for motorized use to non-motorized use only. The associated Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact are available on the Bighorn National Forest web page at http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/bighorn/ or upon request from Craig Cope Team Leader, Powder River Ranger District, 1415 Fort Street, Buffalo, WY 82834. (Telephone: 307-684-7806).

36 CFR 215 appeal regulations dated June 4, 2003 apply to this project. Legal notice of this decision will appear in the Casper Star-Tribune. Appeals must be postmarked or received no later than 45 days after the publication of the legal notice in the Casper Star-Tribune, as specified in 36 CFR 215.15. It is the responsibility of appellants to ensure that their appeal is received in a timely manner. William T. Bass, Forest Supervisor, is the Appeal Deciding Officer for this project.

The four wheeling in Wyoming is supposed to be awesome. They have over 150 4WD Clubs as recognized by the state. Kentucky has 3 !!!!

I will hopefully get to do some trail riding when I am in Laramie. I will let you know how it goes !!!
