This is something I have been wanting to do for some time. Some friends and I decided to do it and set the date about 2 months prior. Needless to say, it was unlike anything I have ever done in my life. It went by in a flash and was absolutely phenomenal. The guy I dove with (Mike) was nothing short of awesome. I was his 6798th dive and his 2381st tandem. I will be doing this again in the near future and just wanted to share.

The total for jumping was $205.00 and an additional $125.00 for pics and a DVD video of before, during, landing and after the jump. Well worth it in my opinion. Well enough of the small talk.

That had to be so awesome. I've always wanted to do that too but never really thought about seriously going through with it, but now that I know that it doens't cost that much, I may check into where they do it around here.

I've jumped out of a perfectly good airplane or two. If you've never done it, awesome doesn't even begin to describe it.

From what altitude did you dive? 5K?

Yea, that's a nice dive. You prolly had about a minute or so of free fall time. Mine was a 2 jump package (and I did this years ago). The first time I jumped was from 5K and we pulled at 3K, it was less than 15 seconds of free fall...barely enough to get your feet wet. The second time was from 14K and we pulled at 3K. That was freaking awesome. I stopped at that point cause I just knew I was gonna get addicted to it.

I forget his name but in the 60's a USAF pilot jumped from over 100K...that's 19 miles up. Shocked I'm pretty sure that's the altitude record. He had to use his arms and legs as gyroscopes since his terminal velocity was clocked at just under the speed of sound. Now THAT'S a ride.

One of the engineers in the fire department has jumped twice from a plane only to have his parachute fail to open. One time was on Christmas Day.
