I used to drive a YJ, then I upgraded to an XJ which was great until I started suffering from being able to remove the top. I sold my XJ and am now in the market for a TJ. I know that most of these questions are a matter of personal opinion. I know I want an I6 with the 5 sp manual. With this combination, at about how many miles should someone start getting worried. There is a 97 TJ with 131K on it. I know that the I6 is a proven engine that runs forever, I figure with proper care should be able pull over 200K. The part I am most worried about is the tranny. The tranny in my YJ blew out at 100K. With the price, I could potentially have the tranny redone, but it isn't something I want to do right away.
By the way, I have this site to be very helpful. Thanks guys.

Check the bluebook for it's appraised value. With those kind of miles you should be able to argue for low value. Pay alot of attention to the undercarriage. Has it been wheeled off road alot? Is it sitting in stock configuration or lift? If lift, was it done correctly.

Just remember, with those kind of miles, you certainly arent buying anything near a new vehicle. Also, what differentials are in it, and what is the gear ratio. If it is 3.07, be aware of that. Frankly, unless you are wanting one to build up on your own, I would look elsewhere for a TJ with low miles, etc.
