Hello everyone.

I'm novice Grand Cherokee owner. Got my first one two months ago. It had been modified to have 38" tyres when I got it. Now the problem is that I broke a front hub and have to replace it. In the near future I will probably also replace my NV249 for a NV242. Therefore I wanted to ask wheter I should put free wheeling hubs under instead, whether I gain anything by it and if so where i can find them. I'm located in Iceland so I always have to have parts shipped to me over seas so it doesn't really matter where the parts would be located.

Thanks
Gulli Olafsson

You have a grand with 38"s and it still has the 249????????????

Do you still have stock axles??? Because I am sure the stock 30 can not stand up to 38's..

If you still have stock axles I would say no.. It will cost you about $800 to do a manual hub conversion and for that much you can swap in a 44 which is the least you need with those tires.. In fact I would think that a 60 would be better...

Do you have any pics of it??

If you already have some other axle , which I hope you do, then manual hub conversion may be much easier and cheaper...

So I revert to my first question...What axles do you have??

That must be a hell of a lift and a lot of sheet metal without a home.
