Hello all, glad to be on board the forum. I'm a Toyota guy, but Ive always loved Jeeps, I just dont know much about them.
Anyway, Im inheriting a 1990 Cherokee from my mother in law. It has 220 XXX KM's on it, was well maintained, new rad hoses, exhaust, tranny, minor surface rust.... all in all, its in pretty good shape.

Now with Noob Q's

How can i tell which engine I have?
Are there any problems with this gen. that i should be lookin for?
With this vehicle being well maintained all its life and its never really been off road, how long could i expect the engine to keep ticking along? 300 000? 350 000? 400 000 ?

Any info at all is appreciated guys

Cheers

If you have 6 cylinders then you have the Renix 4.0L engine. Some have claimed over 300K on the Renix 4.0L's. I have a 1990 and found there to be less aftermarket engine mods availible than the 1991+ cherokees which have the 4.0L HO engine.

The suspension and driveline upgrades are widely availible for all years of cherokees.
