I don't want to sound stupid, but something's got me wondering. In my 05 Rocky Mountain Ed. I have the 7 speaker sound system, but I can't find 7. All I can find is 5, the two in the dash (below the A/C vents), the two in the soundbars, and the sub in the console. So where are the other two? I sure as heck can't find em.

The other two are in your door if you have the full door. That's what I was told the other day by the parts man at the Jeep dealer here.

i was under the understanding that if you got the 7 speaker setup then the 4x6" in the dash was replaced with a 4x6" plate that had a tweeter and a small midrange in it. again, mine doesn't have the 7 speaker so i'm just going on what i heard. 2 phillips screws are all that keep you from looking Smile

I'll pull that cover on the dash and check it out. I know theres nothing in the door because there's no wiring going to the doors.

The 7 speaker system is how Chris described it--four in the dash (two midrange and two tweeters), two in the soundbar/sound pods, and the sub in the console. 4+2+1=7. I think it was a really cheesy way to put an upgrade sound system in a Wrangler.

why were you looking? upgrading the speakers?

many people swap 6 1/2"s into the soundpods (althoughh it's tougher to fit them than on the older speakerbars) and then put the 5 1/4"s from the soundpods into the dash using a bracket sold by ORTS. gives better sound in the soundpods...but by ditching all the stock speakers and putting aftermarket 5 1/4"s into the dash makes a big difference.

9 outta 10 five star 'specialists' are Wink Mr. Green . Now ask them about a Dodge Neon and ya might have a 50/50 chance of getting the right answer. Seriously, not to rant, but you're hard pressed to find Jeep knowledge in any given dealership Confused .

What's 4HI and LO?

[sweats a bit]Umm, that's the new 4WD system that takes in account the altitude you're offroading in. See, in the mountains you'll want 4HI...yah. Would you like the extended warranty?

i'm usually the first to harp about the local dealer, but after last week i'm holding back some. just got my jeep back - new rear main seal, new nv3350 (yeah, i said new!), new climate control panel, and they even offered to fix my broken evap tube from when i put my tank skid on. that's with all the mods i had done to it too. i got it in their door with 35,750 on the odometer Smile

Yah, so far I'm still a fan of County (haven't been there since they changed ownership or whatever happpened), but for every one of them, there's a hundred 'oh that'll void your warranty' shysters out there. Not that this has anything to do with speakers Mr. Green . Kelly on Lehigh absolutely flames me, I'd love to convert to rear leafs and take it in for 'warranty work' rofl .

I'm not looking to upgrade anything for now, it was just something that was bugging me. And I did pull the dash covers today and like everyone said, there were tweeters in there too. I guess they're right, you do learn somethin new everyday.
