Hello,

I have a 97 wrangler, stock wheels and tires. I went offroading the other day and now I really want to get started putting money into the jeep. My tires are balding so they are the first priority. My standard size tire is specified as 205/75/15. I would like to go as big as i possible go on those wheels. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

If I'm not mistaken, on a stock suspension you can go 31x10.5's on the factory wheels. You may need to adjust the steering stop 'cause you'll rub at full turn. My '02 TJ did not need that adjustment when when I was running 31's. But I've heard of some people who did.

Are you planning on lifting the TJ? If so, how high?

Problem also might be the width of wheels as well. If it's a 4cyl, it coulda come with either 15x6 or 15x7 wheels. Sports and Saharas had the optional 30" package that came with 15x8 'Gamblers' back then. I'd be hesitant to put 10.50's on 6" wheels. Just me though, some have.

my 97 se came with 15X7 wheels and the 31's fit fine on them! If you look on the tag in the driver side door jam it should have your rim size!

Nope, it'll have the 'standard' items listed. My '00 came with the 15x8" package but it has 15x7 on the door (correct 15x8 was listed on the sticker). Dunno why that's the case, but it's the case(at least in my application). Here's a real crappy pic of my '97 shortly after purchase. Shows the only 15x6" wheels that I have ever known of coming on a TJ...

If it's not those, Canyons, or 'Gamblers', they're 15x7 if OEM equipped.

exactly what 'drack said. if he has the 205 tires then he has the 6" wide wheels. you'll be hard pressed to get anything wider than a 30x9.5 on the wheels safely.
