So my uncle has a new Durango and being its a dodge etc I figured who better to ask.The Fan wont come on.It's an 01' Durango with 4.7 and tow kit. It has what they call a high performance cooling system that comes as part of the tow package. This includes an electric fan mounted to the radiator in front of the fan clutch attached to the water pump. The guy at our dealer in Roswell said it's most likely the fan controller unit, which he said is located in the engine compartment. The 50 am fuse is intact and I swapped out the relay with an identical one in the fuse block and the fan still doesn't work. As a result the car runs hot.
How hard is it to change cost etc?
Does anyone know if the volts are stepped down or anything to the fan to maybe jumper the wires to see if the fan even works at all?
Any thoughts? As always in advance, thanks Mr. Green

I had a similar kind of problem with a different vehicle. The easiest solution was to use a stand alone switch and sensor to turn on the fan. Pep Boys sells a kit which includes an adjustable temperature sensor and a fan relay. You can set the fan to come on at any temperature you like, no extra switches or crap. It cost thirty something dollars (when I bought it), installs in ten minutes, and works very well.
