Truck freight. I think FedEx Freight is expensive the couple times I've gotten quotes.

common carrier would probably be the cheapest.

But if you go that route...buy the insurance. Stuff like that go missing often during transport. Buy a big roll of shrink wrap from an office supply or rental truck outfit and get enough to make at least 15 full wraps or more around it to keep the drawers secure. Possibly even get a layer or 2 of cardboard in there for added protection. Truckers can thier distribution docks can be absoluetly brutal to stuff like that. Its part of thier job, or creedo or some shit like that. Rolling Eyes

Never used em but I know greyhound has a frieght service- you just put it on the bus with all the luggage and it eventually gets to the closest terminal to the person you're sending it to.

a 53" toolbox in a luggage hold of a bus? I'd sooner put pontoons on it and float it up the river!

How far do you have to ship it?
Just go to any moving company and go on their waiting list....sometimes they just need a little bit more to fill a truck and they "might" not charge you full fare if you're patient enough!

Yea, ABF, Yellow Freight, Redaway are all pretty competitive with each other, but I agree standard truck carrier will be the least expensive for you. I'd probably pull the wheels off and band it or bolt it to a pallet, and then srink wrap it. You can pick up the shrink wrap at any Staples, Office Depot, etc. But you'd still need to take it someplace where there is a forklift if it's full of tools. On payment what most do is have you take dimensions on it, take your best guess as it's weight, and ask that you have a check ready for the driver when they pick it up. They will weigh it for you, and bill you any difference over that. Cost us (our company) about $300 to ship an 700# pallet from the NW to New Mexico. So roughly 1600 miles or more.

Don't know if that helps, but gives you some idea of the savings on a ground carrier. If you need it there in a hurry (like overnight), Burlington Air will be typically the cheapest with decent service.
