http://www.custom4x4fabrication.com/trailblazer.jpg ..now its on to finding a winch and some decent lights. How hard is it to take the existing bumper of an 01' XJ?

nice looking bumper. Make sure you spray the bolts connecting the bumper to the unibody with PB blaster about a week before you even remove the bolts, and spray it everyday. It should make it easier to take the bolts out.

It's not too difficult to remove. The bumper bolts are concealed by the end caps, so you'll have to remove those first. There are bolts that hold each cap to the fender as well as some on the underside of the bumper. There is also a rivet (it could be a bolt) holding the bottom of the cap to the front spoiler/valence. If you've got foglights, you'll need to disconnect the plug from the housing. Once the end caps are off, you'll see the bumper bolts. There are four of them altogether.

Before you pull the bumper, you'll need to relocate the vacuum canister...it's mounted behind the bumper on the passenger side. Depending on where the new bumper sits, you might have to relocate the horns too.
