I destroyed the spider gears in my dana 35 a couple weeks ago. When I opened the diff up, dozens of gear teeth poured out with the fluid. I ordered an aussie locker as a replacement, and another for the front dana 30. I know I'm gonna snap some axle shafts with a locker and 31" swampers, so I want to get some spares before I head out on the trail, but I'm having trouble determining which years have compatable shafts before i go to the junk yard.

I looked at the differnt time periods new shafts are sold to fit, and I think I need rear shafts from '87-'89 wranglers w/o c-clips, and front shafts from '87-'95 wranglers. I'm just guessing here, does anyone know if I'm right or if I can use cherokee shafts from the same year axle?

I think you're right on what you've said so far. The other question is does it have ABS? Hopefully, someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but....

If you don't have ABS, then you should have 38.5" right side shaft and a 22.625" left side shaft...so you should be able to use shafts from a 87-97 non-ABS XJ.

If it has ABS then you should have a 38.375 right side shaft and a 22.5625" left side shaft...so you'll need the shafts out of a 97-01 ABS XJ.

I'm non abs.
I get the lockers from UPS tomorrow, and since I have to pull the front shafts to put them in, I'll take a tape measure to them then.
I measure from the spline end of the shaft up to the center of the u joint hole, right?

btw- does anyone know what a fair salvage yard price for these would be?
